The Upper Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) Student Production Awards were announced at a ceremony on Sunday, April 14, 2013, at the Theaters at Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota. When the Cup 'N Saucer Cafe in Sherburn, Minnesota, quietly closed its doors on January 21, 2011, it could have easily marked the end of an era for the small town institution. The cafe served its first customers nearly 60 years ago catering to the far southern Minnesota community. For years the Cup 'N Saucer was the local hangout for teens, families, and even seniors. The Bethany Lutheran College continued to build upon a successful speech season earning a State Championship in the Limited Entry division during the Minnesota Collegiate Forensics Association State Tournament held February 16-17, 2013, at the College of St. Benedict. Professor Peter Bloedel of Bethany's Theatre Department was featured in a recent article in the local Coon Rapids, Minnesota, community newspaper. Bloedel, also a playwright, attended a production of his original work A Sueussified Christmas Carol at Coon Rapids High School.

The final phases of Bethany Lutheran College’s Faithful Future capital campaign are nearing completion with the overall goal of $28 million in sight. Angela Kraft, a senior at Bethany, will graduate on December 14 and go on to attend the prestigious international Math in Moscow program. Math in Moscow is a program for international undergraduate and graduate students to study math in the Russian style. The program focuses on "discovering mathematics yourself under the guidance of an experienced teacher" rather than memorizing proofs and theorems. Courses are taught in English.
