Bethany Lutheran College is pleased to announce the formal approval from the Minnesota Professional Educator and Standards Licensing Board (PESLB) for two new programs at the College. Education professors, Drs. Carrie Pfeifer and Alanna Lienig, developed a new special education major, and the Education Department jointly created an endorsement program for pre-primary grades. For Andrew (‘10) and Sarah (Doebbeling ‘11) Gerda Bethany Lutheran College (BLC) wasn’t on their college radar until their pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Francis, Minnesota, mentioned BLC to them. Alexa Alfred, a senior biology major at Bethany from New Ulm, Minnesota, is a recipient of an Xcel Energy Scholarship. The Xcel Scholarship is administered through the Minnesota Private College Fund and the Minnesota Private College Council (MPCC). Bethany is a member of the MPCC, which is an association of seventeen institutions of higher education. Bethany’s second year head men’s basketball coach Matt Fletcher had the opportunity to meet a Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association and Bethany Lutheran College Hall of Famer after the Vikings 84-69 road win at the University of Wisconsin-Stout on November 29.  Anyone who was a part of Bethany athletics in the 1950s and early 60s remembers the name Dwain “Dewey” Mintz. Bethany Lutheran College is looking to the sun for a portion of its future electricity needs. The College has elected to partner with the Community Solar Garden (CSG) program and will be receiving some of its power from local solar farms. A CSG is a large array of solar panels that a customer can subscribe to rather than installing solar panels on location. Among a long list of positive things about Bethany Lutheran College, perhaps one attribute that rises to the top is the wonderful personalities on campus. Bethany is a college where personal mentorship occurs on a variety of levels.
