Bethany Lutheran College (BLC) will name the Honsey Hall communication/studio wing in honor of Professor Emeritus Thomas Kuster on Saturday, October 6 at 1 p.m. The ceremony will take place in the lobby of Honsey Hall and is part of the Fall Festival/Homecoming weekend.  Kuster first came to Bethany in the fall of 1962 at which time he taught both Latin and English classes while he was yet a seminary student. Bethany Lutheran College’s enrollment for fall 2018 has broken several records. Most notably, the incoming class of students is the largest in the history of the institution. The fall 2018 class of first year and transfer students exceeded projections, and at 225 students, it surpasses the previous record set in 2008 by 10 students. A milestone of sorts was reached on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, when a new grand piano was delivered to the Ylvisaker Fine Arts Center. Bethany Lutheran College is in the midst of a campaign to replace old and damaged pianos throughout the campus. Dr. Bethel Balge (Music, Piano Instruction) is organizing and leading the effort. One member of the Bethany Vikings Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) championship team is getting in some quality work on the diamond this summer. Bethany sophomore Logan Nissen is pitching well for the Rochester Honkers of the Northwoods League. The Northwoods League is one of the nation's premier summer collegiate baseball leagues. Benji Inniger, Associate Professor of Theatre, has been busy readying a new, commissioned musical composition written for the Mankato Symphony Orchestra. His original work will see its debut as part of the Orchestra’s performance on July 4, 2018, during the City of Mankato’s annual Fourth of July concert and fireworks event.  The piece is called The Next Bend: A River Adventure for Orchestra.
