Arvid Schwartz

Arvid Schwartz is a graduate of the Minnesota School of Business and Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, Minnesota. He began his career in the health care field at Group Health Plan, known today as Health Partners. He left there in 1986 after serving as Vice President of Finance and Treasurer. Since then, he has been self-employed in production agriculture, investments, real estate development, and philanthropic and religious endeavors.

Schwartz served the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) in a number of positions including twenty-five years as a member of the Board of Trustees and the Synodical Council. He served twelve years on the Board of Regents at Wisconsin Lutheran College including five years as Chairman. He was also the Chairman of the WELS Kingdom Workers and was a member of the Board of Regents of St. Croix Lutheran High School.

Schwartz currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of The Lutheran Home Association of Minnesota and Wisconsin, Chairman of the Board of Bethesda Lutheran Communities of Watertown, Wisconsin, and Chairman of the Bethany Lutheran College Faithful Future capital campaign. He is a founding member of Time of Grace Ministries of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and has served as treasurer since its inception eleven years ago. He is also a founding member of the Board of Directors of Grace in Action of Minnesota.

Arvid and his wife, Judy, live near Green Isle, Minnesota, where they are actively engaged in production agriculture. They are members of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota, and very active in the congregation’s Jesus Cares Ministry to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The Schwartz Family Foundation has established a scholarship at Bethany Lutheran College, which has, since it’s establishment in 1996, assisted eighty-two Bethany students with need-based scholarships. The Schwartz’s have two children, Lance and Carolee, who are both Bethany graduates, and six grandchildren.
