The 2016 Bethany Lutheran College fall semester commencement ceremony will be held on Friday, December 9, at 3:30 p.m., in Trinity Chapel. Thirty graduates will receive their bachelor of arts degrees. Professor Peter Bloedel is the commencement speaker. Bloedel grew up in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, the youngest of five siblings. The Board of Regents of Bethany Lutheran College (BLC) recently approved the addition of three new majors. The programs are available to both current and incoming students. The new majors are: bachelor of arts in engineering sciences, bachelor of arts in graphic design, and bachelor of arts in biochemistry. The Minnesota Board of Nursing has completed campus and clinical site visits at Bethany Lutheran College (BLC) and officially granted permission to the College to establish a bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) program. The Bethany Lutheran College Athletic Department has added three new coaches recently. Each of these coaches bring with them impressive resumes and a comittment to Division III athletics. Men's and women's tennis will be coached by Jill Bailey.

The Bethany Lutheran College student-produced Minnesota State Maverick hockey broadcast has been nominated for a Sports Video Group (SVG) and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) College Sports Media Award in the category of "Outstanding Live Game Production." Bethany Lutheran College is the recipient of a generous $6,000 grant from the Mankato Clinic Foundation. The funding will be used for the addition of a teaching/lab space that is part of the College’s proposed nursing program. Val Imm Bashour of Dallas is the recipient of the 2016 Bethany Lutheran College Distinguished Alumna Award. The award will be presented on May 13, 2016, during the 2016 Bethany Lutheran College spring commencement ceremony.
