Theater Major

Bethany’s theater major approaches the discipline from a broad-based perspective, with students choosing an emphasis in theater production or performance. In theater performance, you will study the history of theater, read and discuss many pieces of literature, and focus on the art of acting. In theater production you will focus on sound and lighting design, set design and construction, stage management, and directing. In addition to creative development, our theater department is distinctive in encouraging Christian theater artists who understand the influence of performance and make ethical decisions.

Multiple trips to the Twin Cities' Ordway and Guthrie Theater complement classroom learning, and four annual theater productions on the Bethany stage provide a chance for you to demonstrate your talents and abilities in both acting and technical aspects. This includes set building, scene painting, lighting, sound, make-up, box office, publicity, running crews, and stage managing.
