Mankato, Minn. – Joelle Pipal was named to the Capitol One Academic All-America Women’s Soccer second team. She is the first Bethany Lutheran College student-athlete to receive this honor. The award was voted upon by Academic All-America Committee members and the current College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Board of Directors. Bethany Lutheran College is pleased to announce that it will be adding track and field to its athletic program offerings. Bethany will join with already-established programs of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) in adding track and field as a varsity sport beginning with the 2012-13 season. Norman Holte, president of Bethany Lutheran College from 1978 until 1982, died at the age of 93 on Thursday morning, November 10, 2011, at Pathstone Living in Mankato, Minnesota. Holte was a 1942 Bethany Lutheran College graduate earning his associate’s degree. After attending Bethany, he worked for two years at the shipyards in Richmond, California. Bethany Lutheran College is participating in Minnesota’s “Give to the Max Day” on Wednesday, November 16. This is Bethany’s first time participating in the annual event. GiveMN created “Give to the Max Day” with hopes of raising as much money as possible for Minnesota nonprofit organizations during a twenty-four hour period. The Bethany Lutheran College Board of Regents unanimously resolved at their August 2011 meeting to name the former Seminary/Bethany Communication Center in honor of the Reverend Milton E. Tweit. Tweit served Bethany Lutheran College as a Regents member for 56 years (21 years as chairman). Both are records for board service. It was an exciting day at Bethany Lutheran College on Tuesday, August 9, 2011. A number of faculty, friends, and community members gathered as a variety of artifacts were removed from a time capsule that was placed in the Old Main cornerstone when the building was constructed in 1910-11.
