Engineering (dual degree) Major Requirements

Entry into the Major

Students have the freedom to decide which field of engineering they would like to pursue at almost any time during the three years at Bethany, as the requirements for a B.A. in the physical sciences are designed for all areas of engineering. The student should consult with the engineering advisor on the Bethany campus as soon as possible, however, in order to design appropriate course schedules.

There are two separate entry points into the engineering and physical science major.

First, entry into the physical science portion of the program consists of the student attaining an advisor in the physics department. Second, after successfully completing the requirements listed below, the student must apply for admission into the engineering program at the dual degree partner institution. The requirements for the second entry phase are:

  1. Successful completion of Bethany's general education requirements
  2. A grade of "C" or better and a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher in all of the core requirements (see below) for most engineering programs at the U of M. A GPA of 3.2 or higher in all of the core requirements is required for entry in the mechanical, biomedical, and chemical engineering programs at the U of M.
