INDIVIDUAL SPEAKERS (top 20 of 36):

TOPICS:

Round 1: This House would grant amnesty to illegal immigrants who have been working in the United States for two years.

Round 2: This House would make China happy.

Round 3: (case) Prof. Harris has been teaching his Interpersonal Communication class for 10 years. Along the way he has developed several class activities to reinforce his lessons. About two years ago, Prof. Harris started collecting data from the results of these activities and realized he had the makings of a wonderful research paper. The university requires approval from the Institutional Review Board (IRB) for all studies involving human participants. However, Prof. Harris has been doing these activities for a decade and no one cared about it then. He also knows that if he goes to the IRB, his collected data from the past two years might be eradicated since he didn't have IRB approval when he collected it.

In this case the government team must defend the position: It is morally acceptable for Prof. Harris to publish the study without IRB approval.

Bronze Round: Resolved: Computers are more beneficial to education than books.

Gold Round: This House would protect American industry.
