On-campus phone service

Courtesy phones are available in the residence hall lounges other locations across campus. 

Any student may still request a local phone line in their room. There is a charge of $100 per year. The line provides local access, calling cards must be used for long distance. The phone extensions do have caller-id. We can display the number of the caller from off-campus and the name or location and number of on-campus calls. We do not provide voice mail, though you are free to use your own answering machine.

Most of the nationwide cell phone companies have a presence in Mankato, but some lose their service away from the city and the major highways. Students choosing to use a cell phone should choose a plan that best fits their travel needs.

TV service

All residence hall rooms are connected to the campus-wide cable television network. We distribute channel 3, our on-campus channel (produced by our own TV studio as part of the communication program), free of charge, to all dormitory rooms.

If you wish to receive other channels in your room, in addition to channel 3, the cost is $100 per semester per connection. You may want to split this cost with roommates. Payment is due at the beginning of each semester. Students who switch rooms or roommates will need to work out the finances among themselves. The business office will not offer credit or transfer payments to a new room.

Regarding channel selection on-campus, we have installed our own satellite dish and the service is similar to what is provided from our local cable TV provider. We provide televisions in the student lounges. Larson Hall receive their signal from the local cable company and have a slightly different channel selection. The channels we receive from the satellite system are listed below.
