Bethany Lutheran College announces the hiring of Don Westphal as the new Director of Athletics. If there is anybody who is in-tune with the Bethany Lutheran community it is Westphal. Dr. Peter Harstad (55) is the recipient of the 2013 Bethany Lutheran College Distinguished Alumnus Award. Harstad, the eldest of ten children, was born on November 13, 1935, to the Reverend Adolph and Martha (Tjernagel) Harstad.  Harstad is an accomplished historian with several books and publications to his credit, has taught at the collegiate level, and directed two State Historical Societies. When Bethany Lutheran College became a Division III member in 2004-05, no athletic team has ever qualified for a national tournament. That changed on Saturday. Bethany Lutheran College announces the hiring of Greg Holzhueter as the new head men’s basketball coach. Holzhueter has been with the Vikings for the past two seasons working as the lead assistant and recruiting coordinator under David Balza.
