Shelley Harrison (middle) of the Blue Earth County Historical Society and President Dan Bruss (right) moved the time capsule contents to a box for transportation, while Professor Erling Teigen checked for more items.
It was an exciting day at Bethany Lutheran College on Tuesday, August 9, 2011. A number of faculty, friends, and community members gathered as a variety of artifacts were removed from a time capsule that was placed in the Old Main cornerstone when the building was constructed in 1910-11. Among the many items found in the century-old capsule were an original mortgage bond for Old Main, catechisms, newspapers of the day, and various Lutheran publications. Professor Erling Teigen helped explain the significance of several items as each was removed and shown to the gathered audience. The items will be on display during the fall semester in our Memorial Library.
