Bethany Lutheran College is taking the first steps towards the addition of a bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) program with the announcement of a search for a full time director of nursing.
“Bethany is seeking a director of nursing candidate with the necessary background and education to begin the process of moving towards the ultimate goal of offering a BSN program to our students,” said Dr. Eric Woller, Vice President of Academic Affairs.
Woller continued, “Before Bethany is able to offer a nursing program, the College must satisfy the necessary program requirements such as licensure from the State of Minnesota, accreditation by a nursing board or organization, and the curriculum needs to be developed. This person, the director of nursing, will design and develop an accredited and board certified BSN program for Bethany Lutheran College.”
According to Woller, the timing is right for Bethany to begin the development of a proposed nursing program. The demand for skilled nurses continues to increase on both national and international levels, and there are a large number of students seeking acceptance into BSN programs.
Woller notes that Bethany’s longstanding liberal arts curriculum provides the foundation and strength to build a nursing program upon.
“Most health care facilities hiring nurses today are looking for a graduate with a BSN degree, and we are well equipped to establish that type of program at Bethany,” said Woller.
The ideal candidate for the director of nursing will have earned a doctor of nursing practice degree (DNP) and have experience in nursing education. For a complete job description you may visit the Bethany employment web page.
