In the event of a campus emergency or closure, the College will send notifications through a number of communication channels including: text, voice, and email. Ottesen Museum Christmas Open House The ELS Ottesen Museum invites you to its 6th annual Christmas Open House on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, from 2:30 to 5:30. This year's theme is "A Norwegian-American Pioneer Christmas". Learn about how the first Norwegian settlers celebrated Christmas. Music, decorations, and food will take you back to the middle years of the 19th century. Hear from the settlers in their own words about their experiences. You can also make an authentic Norwegian Christmas ornament to take home with you. The Ottesen Museum is located at 4 Browns Ct. in Mankato, just next to the Synod offices.
Psych Club Christmas Party Have fun with the Psychology Club - we're going to decorate Christmas cookies, watch "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", and diagnose the Grinch! Gift Wrap Volunteers The Holiday Sharing Tree is celebrating 31 years of giving to those in need in Blue Earth & Nicollet Counties. They provide gifts to approx. 2,800 people each holiday season. There is a gift wrap center located at the River Hills Mall where volunteers can pick time slots (usually 2 hour slots) to wrap gifts. And, you don’t need to be an expert at wrapping! Fire and Ice Ball United Way's Fire & Ice Ball is a gala fundraiser and they need volunteers! This second annual event will take place on December 9 at Snell Motors. They are looking for volunteer help before, during and after this great event -- from setting up tables to decorating to serving food to take down. The Ada Stokes Writing Center The Ada Stokes Writing Center, located in HH 217, is open Monday - Thursday from 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Tutors provide help in the areas of essay writing, creative writing, resumes, cover letters, graduate applications, and more. Res Halls over Christmas Break The Residence Halls are closed over Christmas Break beginning 5pm Thursday 12/15/16. The Res Halls reopen at noon on Sunday 1/8/17. Students needing to be on campus over break must complete a waiver available from Renee Tatge OM238, Ted Manthe OM236, or Glenda Bossow MH205. The cost to stay on campus is $20 per night (exceptions: participants in Bethany-sponsored activities, apartment residents, and international students). Waivers are due by 4pm Tuesday 12/13. CLIMB 2 Feed Kids Climb 2 Feed Kids is Sunday, January 8, 2017 and helps raise funds to provide low-income elementary students in the Mankato area with packs of child-friendly nutritious food for every weekend and school break. The BackPack Food Program fills their tummies on the weekend so teachers can fill their minds on Monday morning. You can be a Photo Booth Assistant or Climbing Assistant! Choose between three shifts: 9:30- 11:30, 11:30-1:30 and 1:30-3:30 at the MSU-Mankato Taylor Center-Bresnan Arena. Register to volunteer following this link:

Maggie Bruder Senior Thesis Join us on Thursday, December 8th at 4pm in MH301. Magggie will give an overview of conic sections, ellipses, complex numbers and polynomials to look at the connections between geometry and the complex plane in Marden's Theorem, which states that the unique ellipse inscribed within the triangle formed by the complex roots of a polynomial have foci at the roots of the polynomials derivative.
