The mission of the Speechless Film Festival is to challenge individuals from different countries and cultures to communicate with each other through the universal medium of visual storytelling. Our films are not dialogue-free, rather productions are judged on quality of work as well as use of non-verbal storytelling.

Speechless awards a professional and student winner in the categories of narrative, and animation/experimental/other, and one award for a new category this year: Made in Minnesota. Speechless also includes a category for productions created by high school students.

Venue

Located in downtown Mankato, the Mankato Place Theater (the city's oldest movie theater) will showcase the festival's selected films, and will serve as the festival hub.

Passes

All-access passes will be available at the door and both Mankato Hy-Vee locations for $15, discounted passes availabe to students with valid ID for $10. Single showcase passes are available for $5.

Your all-access pass is good for all film screenings on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The pass also includes access to our award reception with complimentary appetizers.

Free Live Music at 9:00 p.m. - The Tinder Box

Humbled by their south-eastern South Dakota roots, The Tinder Box (Chad Konrad, Dominic Osterloh, & Jon Wallner) offer a uniquely cohesive blend of Folk & Bluegrass. With their February 2011 release of their debut EP "These Winds", The Tinder Box has emerged as a three-member band with the driving force of most full-bands. Foot-tapping kick hits, piercing banjo picking, and full harmonies have helped to already create a name for this young band.
