Outstanding pianist Ralph Votapek returns to the Bethany campus for another exciting recital. Votapek’s early triumphs – as winner of the prestigious Naumburg Award and Gold Medalist in the first Van Cliburn International Piano Competition – were an auspicious prelude to an even more remarkable career. Mr. Votapek has made literally hundreds of appearances with major American orchestras. Featured no less than sixteen times as the Chicago Symphony’s guest soloist, Votapek has frequently played with the Boston Pops, also concertizing with many of the most prestigious orchestras in the country.
With concerto appearances abroad ranging through London, Lisbon, St. Petersburg and into the Far East, Mr. Votapek has made a special commitment to Latin America. Mr. Votapek is equally familiar as a solo recitalist throughout four continents.
His guest appearances with the Julliard, Fine Arts, New World and Chester String Quartets are highlights of his extensive chamber music experience.
Mr. Votapek has recorded for the RCA, London, Cambridge, CRI, Music and Arts, Mace, Grenadilla, Concert Disc, EDUL, Audio Arts and Ivory Classics labels. He was the soloist on Arthur Fiedler’s last Boston Pops recording, a Gershwin program re-released on CD by Pickwick.
Tickets will be available at the door one hour before the recital. Ticket prices are $8 for adults and $5 for students (K-college) and seniors (55+).
