COMM480 Viral Video Production for Marketing

In this residential program, students learn how to create videos for a marketing campaign. The daily coursework includes marketing strategies, video production techniques, editing and post production, and mass distribution plans. This program would work well for students interested in communications, public relations, advertising, marketing, or business.

Real Clients and Projects
The coursework incorporates a real-world client so that students gain experience working with American businesses and create a professional product for their portfolio.
American Life and Culture
A weekend host family stay and a variety of recreational and cultural activities are included to expose students to Minnesota life. Dormitory housing and cafeteria meals are provided.
This program ends with a trip to L.A. and Hollywood, California.

Educational Opportunities

Students collaborate in small groups to complete each stage of the video production process. They learn about each role on a production team and have individual roles and duties within their team. The course culminates with final projects presented to the clients.

Students will learn to:

• Show creative thinking in promotion and marketing
• Explain the culture of the American client and their business needs
• Produce professional quality audio and video recordings for the client
• Collaborate in a group the way industry professionals work
• Use technology in all stages of video production
• Use industry appropriate English vocabulary in video production and business
