The AmeriCorps Ancestral Lands Corpsmember (ages 18-25) will work with Apostle Islands National Lakeshore to complete meaningful conservation projects and build connections between the park and the local Native American community (primarily Ojibwe). The member will plan and implement a Youth Play/Learn/Serve (PLS) activity that engages local youth through activities such as a youth hiking club or educational program at the National Park Service site. The member will also assist with duties at the Little Sand Bay Visitor Center such as greeting visitors, assuring visitor center is stocked and clean, leading tours of the Hokenson Brothers Fishery, presenting programming that introduces the public to the Ojibwe Culture, and helping implement the park’s backcountry camping system.
