The celebration of Norwegian heritage returns to the Bethany campus on Thursday, October 13, co-sponsored by Bethany Fine Arts and the local Sons of Norway. The celebration begins in the Ron Younge Gym with demonstrations by the Sons of Norway of traditional Norwegian dancing, food, and crafts from 4-6 p.m. There is no charge to attend the demonstrations and the public is welcome.
A Scandinavian-themed salmon dinner at 6 p.m. will be available with advance reservations by calling 507-344-7365. Dinner tickets are $10.50 and reservations and payment must be made by October 7.
Festivities continue in the evening as the Bethany Guest Artist Series welcomes 15-year-old Violinist Sonoko Miriam Shimano Welde to the campus for this eagerly anticipated recital at 7 p.m. in Trinity Chapel. She will be assisted on piano by Bethel Balge. The program will begin with a parade of traditional bunads. Tickets for the concert will be available at the door of the chapel beginning at 6 p.m. the evening of the performance. Ticket prices are $8 for adults and $5 for children and students (through college) and seniors (55+).
