The 2012-13 artist series opens with a recital by renowned organist Dr. Dean Billmeyer. Dr. Billmeyer began his study of music at the age of five. He entered Eastman School of Music on an academic scholarship and graduated first in his class. Billmeyer then studied at Southern Methodist University in Dallas and at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Vienna as a Fulbright scholar. He completed his doctorate at Eastman and has served on the University of Minnesota music faculty since 1982. Dr. Billmeyer has performed throughout the United States as well as Austria, Ireland, Britain, Germany, Norway, Sweden, and the Netherlands. Tickets for the recital will be available at the door an hour before the recital. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students (K-college) and seniors (55+).
