Gearing Up for Graduation! On Wednesday, October 26 (Advising Day), all December 2016 graduates need to attend the Gearing Up for Graduation event being held in the Viking Village in Old Main between 11am-1pm. The cap and gown vendor will be here to take measurements, and several other departments on campus will be sharing information regarding the December 2016 graduation.
The Ada Stokes Writing Center The Ada Stokes Writing Center, located in HH 217, is open Monday - Thursday from 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Tutors provide help in the areas of essay writing, creative writing, resumes, cover letters, graduate applications, and more. Walk-ins are welcome, but priority is given to individuals with an appointment. To make an appointment, go to MyBLC and search for “Writing Center Appointment Form.” Come see us!

Help deliver meals to seniors and disabled individuals Students and staff: Volunteers are needed to help deliver meals to seniors and disabled individuals in the Mankato area. Delivery takes just an hour and you can pick up meals between 10:45–11 a.m. Deliver once a week, once per month, whatever works with your schedule. Brighten someone's day with a visit from a friendly face with some great food and help make a difference in the Mankato community. Reformation Lectures The annual Bjarne W. Teigen Memorial Lectures will be held October 27–28, 2016. This year the theme will be “The Cost of Confessing: Luther and the Three Princes.” The first lecture will begin Thursday at 10:30, in the YFAC theater: “Luther and Frederick the Wise,” by Dr. Roland Ziegler; lecture two, Thursday at 2:00: “Luther and John the Constant,” by Dr. Charles Cortright; and lecture three, Friday at 10:30: “Luther and John Frederick,” by Dr. David Lumpp.
Friendship Circle Have you ever wanted to learn how to communicate more effectively or feel more confident in social situations? Christian Family Solutions now offers a new group (Friendship Circle). This group will help members grow in their abilities and confidence and give the opportunity to learn from others who may be experiencing similar feelings or concerns. The group meets Thursdays from 10:45-11:30 am at the Christian Family Solutions clinic at 421 E. Hickory St., Ste. 402. New members are welcome to join at any time. Paid position: help kids with reading and math Any Bethany student may apply for a position with America Reads/Counts helping local school children with reading and math, even if you don't normally qualify for work study. So, if you have some time in your schedule (there are slots available pretty much all day long), want to earn some extra cash, and desire to make an impact on little kids, please contact Dr. Polly Browne at x323, HH 327, or pbrowne. You can work as little or as much as you'd like.
Basketball Coaches Needed Mt. Olive Lutheran School is in need of basketball coaches for the Girls B team (5th-6th grade) Girls A team (7th and 8th Grade) and the Boys B team (5th-6th grade). Practices will be on Mondays and Thursdays for the girls teams and Tuesdays and Fridays for the boys. Practice times are between 2:30 and 5:30PM depending on the coaches availability. IM BB Sign-Ups Sign-ups are open for mens and womens IM BB. Games will be held Mon-Thurs and Sun evenings. Potential game times are 4-10:00pm depending on the number of teams and gym availability. Be sure to refer to the eligibility & roster portions of the rules when forming teams! Rules, roster, and liability/emergency information (2-sided) forms can be picked up from the IM wall in the SFC. Return completed forms to the same area. Rosters are due Wed 11/2. MANDATORY captain's meeting Sun 11/6 6:30pm in the SFC classroom. Games begin Mon 11/7. Questions? Great Goody Grab at Edgewood Bring children to Edgewood Place on Saturday, October 29th from 5-7pm for trick-or-treating and games in a safe, warm environment. Vote on which resident has the best door decorations and purchase items from the bake sale raising money for exercise equipment for the women of Edgewood Place!
