Dedication/Consecration of Sacramental Vessels

 

1. This rite may be set within the Divine Service before the Prayer of the Church, or before the Prayers in the Office Services.

 

2. If the item is a gift the first section may

 

P: Our help is in the name of the Lord

C: Who made heaven and earth.

P: Honor and majesty are before Him;

C: Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.

P: The Lord be with you.

C: And with your spirit.

P: O God, we thank You for leading Your people to bring offerings for Your service. We know that such gifts of love are pleasing and acceptable in Your sight. Look with favor upon us as we now present for dedication this __________ for Your praise and glory [and in memory/honor of __________]; through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

C: Amen.

 

3. The Rite of Dedication

 

P: Most gracious God and Father, who only-begotten Son instituted the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar, grant that al who eat and rink the body and the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, from these vessels may rejoice in the forgiveness, life, and salvation thus given them; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one true God, now and forever.

C: Amen.

P: We set apart and dedicate this _________________ for service at the altar of God, in the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit.
