The art major at Bethany consists of foundational courses in drawing, art history, and design. Depending on your medium, you can choose to take more extensive courses in the areas of painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, photography, and graphic design.
Besides spending time in the studio and classroom, you will also learn from local artists who display their work in the gallery and give art lectures. Students also have the opportunity to display their artwork in the student art show at the end of fall and spring semesters. Yearly trips to New York City and biannual trips to Italy are unique opportunities to see and learn about more famous pieces of art.
Our graduates are also expected to have critically examined the role of the
artist in society, and considered the unique position and responsibilities of
the Christian visual artist. Graduates will be well-prepared for jobs as professional photographers, graphic designers, and illustrators. Students may also choose to take additional courses and gain licensure in K-12 Art Education.
