The Bethany sociology major is an integrated major. In other words, selected
courses from other departments (anthropology, communication, physical education,
psychology and religious studies) count toward the sociology major and add an
interdisciplinary component to the program.
The requirements for a major in sociology consist of 36 credits, at least 18
of which are from upper division courses. Students are required to take the following
four core courses plus 24 additional credits from the list of sociology offerings.
- SO320 Research Methods in Social Studies
- SO330 American Minorities
or AN102 Cultural Anthropology
- SO410 Sociological Theory
- SO440 Social Stratification
