Areas of Emphasis
Elective courses drawn from across the entire curriculum give communication
majors flexibility in crafting programs to fit their interests, and make the
major interdisciplinary.
Examples: a student specializing in visual communication can include art courses
in visual design or computer graphics - these courses then fill communication
credit requirements. A student planning graduate work in counseling or social
work could include courses in psychology and sociology.
Areas of emphasis enable specializing in areas like organizational communication, advertising,
pre-law, pre-seminary, law enforcement, public relations, arts administration,
video production, journalism, and many others.
The communication program also offers a minor in Health Communication and a minor in Communication Disorders.
